HOMEOWNER PLANNING GUIDE
Ducted or ductless heat pumps?
Start with the rooms and the existing home.
Look at what is already there.
Existing ductwork, equipment locations and room layout help frame the decision. Ducted projects need attention to air distribution as well as the unit. Ductless projects need a plan for indoor equipment and the spaces it will serve.
Describe the comfort problem.
Which rooms are too warm or too cool? Are you replacing the main system, finishing an addition, or improving one space? Describe the use of the home before deciding on an equipment configuration.
Compare the complete installation.
Ask what is included in the electrical work, equipment placement, connections and access. Compare proposed scopes, not just model names or unit counts.
